It’s officially fall conference season; can you feel it? For me, that started last month at the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors Annual Education Conference in my hometown of Edmonton! It was wonderful to reconnect with this part of my genetic counseling community.
And of course, the NSGC Annual Conference is less than two weeks away! I can sense the energy building as we approach this gathering – our annual time for learning, meeting colleagues, making new connections and creating collective moments. This year, the theme is “Sharpening Our Focus, Reflecting On Purpose.” To me, that means getting really clear on why and how we do what we do (and don’t do). What does it mean to you?
NSGC is truly powered by all of us. Our volunteer and staff teams are the engine that drives us forward. I will share some of our progress during my State of the Society and Annual Business Meeting presentation at our Annual Conference. But here’s a preview: we’ve all been sharpening our focus, reflecting on purpose.
Need more details now? I got you; I also hate waiting... just as Immediate Past President Heather Zierhut and others did last year, we’re shining light on this work in the video below. That way, in their own words, the volunteer leaders of NSGC Committees, Task Forces and Workgroups can recognize their groups and showcase a highlight of their choice.
Thank you to all who can give time and energy to NSGC. And thank you to Kristen Perry on NSGC’s staff team for stitching together more than 10 videos! The video will also be available on the Annual Conference virtual platform and app.
Not all of us can make it to the Annual Conference this year, for any number of reasons. For those who can, I hope to see you in Chicago, in-person or online.
